Then they go back to Government House, where another briefing take place.

NPC confirm Hong Kong may be allowed to choose its leader through a direct election in 2017, and all its lawmakers by 2020 at the earliest. Changes would need to be made gradually, starting in 2012, the date of the next leadership race.

More than 5,000 protesters take part in a march demanded Hong Kong should be granted full universal suffrage by 2012. However, Hong Kong police said only 1,800 people were joined the march.

About 100 Hong Kong people had joined the protest led by the League of Social Democrats (社會民主連線) march for protest against chief executive election.

Protesters trapped by police and threatened to break through the iron gates


Hong Kong Police holding banners in both Chinese and English, warned protesters that their participation in the protest could constitute a crime and risked criminal prosecution.


The police have banned the march, citing inconvenience to the public and potential disruption to traffic


Protesters attempted to leave the park via the Hing Fat Street exit at the opposite end but were forced to stay in an area bounded by iron gates near the tennis courts.




The protesters disbanded after a 90-minute sit-in and after considering other options, including breaking through the gates.






The standoff between the protesters and the police has ended peacefully finally.
