Hong Kong: A record-breaking 2792 people applied for the 32nd New Year Winter Swimming Championships.

However, due to the cold weather, temperature down to 10.2 Degrees Celsius, only 2015 swimmers launched at Middle Bay Beach and only 2400 can completed the 600 meter swim at Repluse Bay Jetty.

This year the youngest swimmer is a 3.5 year old boy Wong Chin-hong (黃展康).

A Symphony of Lights New Year Countdown 2007

Hong Kong: To celebrate the new year of 2008, on 31 December 2007, A Symphony of Lights added with pyrotechnic fireworks on the rooftop of participating buildings of both sides of the habour on the new year's eve of 2007. This special show begins at 23:43. At the last 20 seconds before entering the year of 2008 (23:59:40), Two International Finance Centre will start to fire pyrotechnic fireworks from the outer walls which face to the Victoria Harbour. At the moment of year 2008 comes (24:00:00), 16 of the participating buildings of both sides of the habour will also have themed pyrotechnic show with Two International Finance Centre for 2 minutes to celebrate the new year arrives.
