Hong Kong Queen's Pier, the traditional landing point for visiting dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, has been occupied since April, 2007 by activists trying to stop it being destroyed for a new bypass under the terms of the Central Reclamation Phase III works contract.
Central Pier No. 9 was opened on April 26, 2007. Adjacent to the new Central Star Ferry Pier, provides 6 sets of public landing steps, taking over the role of Queen's Pier.
